Continuity Editing

an example of continuity editing

Continuity editing:

  1. Is the style of editing used after you shot your piece.
The purpose of continuity editing is to go over the discontinuity of the editing and establish a understanding between two or more different shots. It also makes the shot look consistent so the audience knows it's still the same time even though the shot has changed.

Used in film making, the 180-degree rule is a guideline for the on-screen relationship between characters or object in a scene. It's used so the audience doesn't get confused with the characters positioning.
